Cersaie presents its 43rd edition of the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, exploring how tile has evolved and woven itself deeply into the world of design
Tile manufacturing is deeply woven into the blood of Italian culture, with the country boasting over 260 ceramic-focused companies across its towns, cities and villages. Though tile continues to remain a catalyst for creativity, as Cersaie’s 43rd International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings is only a matter of weeks away. Hosted in the Bologna Exhibition Centre from 21 to 25 September, Cersaie has curated a programme packed with thought-provoking talks and demonstrations, featuring some of the world’s leading architects and the industry’s foremost publishing houses.
On each of the five days of the event, the Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings shall carry a prevailing theme: living design, living leisure, living the home, living hospitality, and living in the city. By the end of the series, guests will have explored ceramic tile in all its forms and function, from delving into its practical elements and aesthetics to how tile has evolved to suit different locations, including the home, venues and urban spaces.
Among the event’s key moments is Tiling Town (Città della Posa), where Assoposa will be presenting daily technical demonstrations on the installation of tile in Hall 19. Chilean architect and owner of Studio Elemental, Alejandro Aravena, shall also be delivering a lecture on 24 September at 10:30am in the Palazzo dei Congressi, titled “Building, Dwelling, Thinking.” Further, on the same day at 2pm Annabelle Selldorf, director of Selldorf Architects, will be speaking at a conference in collaboration with architecture magazine, Platform.
With all this and more going on, the event is bound to be buzzing with inspiration, newfound knowledge, and even more reasons to fall in love with tile as a medium.
