Issue 02

For the second issue of Design Anthology UK,  we visit designers Space Copenhagen in their studio and explore the best places to stay, eat and see in America’s Motor City, Detroit. We speak to architects Ohlab about their new hotel project, Can Bordoy, in Palma and capture Hauser & Wirth’s Somerset gallery, Make, on a hazy, sunny day.

Further into the issue, we cover some of the best residential design in the UK and Europe, such as a serene London home designed by Takero Shimazaki – where concrete intersects with classic Italian architecture – and a 5-storey Brussels townhouse with interiors by Pierre Yovanovitch, and packed to the gills with contemporary art.

Finally, we survey Rome’s rationalist architecture – from creations by Gio Ponti to Luigi Moretti – and how The Weston, a new gallery erected on the grounds of  Yorkshire Sculpture Park, has added to some of England’s most celebrated landscape. Last but not least comes the Style section, where we compile a shoot of striking, geometric jewellery pieces and tell the story of a rural Portuguese family that has updated its centuries-old, bag-weaving business for 2019.

Welcome to Design Anthology UK, issue 02.
